GRANADA Y SIERRA NEVADA
Granada is approximately one and a half hours drive from Lorca and to visit the Alhambra Palace alone is well worth the drive. Situated in the province of Andalucia the Alhambra Palace is the most visited attraction in Spain. The Moorish Palace and Gardens are set up high over the town of Granada and is truly an unforgettable experience. At the ticket desk you are advised to hire a guided tour headset which tells of the history and stories of the Palace in English.
Whilst in the area of Granada, it would be a shame not to make the most of the retail therapy in the town or just enjoy a relaxing drink in any one of the many cafes available.
Just half an hour further you will find yourself in the wonderful Sierra Nevada Ski and Mountain Resort. It is the most southern in Europe and the best known in Spain.
Set in the Penibetico range and only 32 km from Granada, it has sign-posted slopes for all levels and excellent quality snow. It also has a cross-country skiing track, a recreational area for non-skiers, dogsled rides and night skiing on weekends.

It is hard to imagine, but it is possible to be Skiing in the mountains in the morning and back sunbathing at home in Lorca in the afternoon.
